These antiqued enamel pendants – perfect for men or women – feature numerous layers of transparent enamel powders (ground glass) sifted, front and back, then kiln fired at 1600’. Every firing requires about 2 minutes, but a piece of jewelry may need as many as a dozen separate layers of color, each requiring a separate firing followed by a slow cooling process to keep the glass from cracking and breaking away from the metal. Once the artist is pleased with the depth and brightness of the enamel colors, she adds her own subtle gold detailing and polishes the edges, bringing out the brightness of the copper against the darkness of the antique finish. She then completes each pendant with her own hand-formed sterling silver hook, allowing the piece to be worn on a leather cord, silver collar, a chain or even with pearls.
